Brenda Ann Kenneally does not consider herself a photojournalist. While the images she has produced throughout her career depict the struggles of families experiencing poverty, drug use, food scarcity, or poor living conditions, Kenneally is not interested in merely depicting these experiences; rather, she wants her photographs to be a starting point for discussions about the challenging issues she documents. Her early series is primarily dedicated to people living in her neighborhood or even on the same block. The five photographs depicted here, in their amazing scale, are from her Money Power Respect: Pictures of my Neighborhood series.
